The Importance of Being an Informed Voter

ree

In every election, local or national, democracy works best when voters are informed. Understanding who’s on the ballot, what they stand for, and how their decisions affect daily life is key to making our community stronger. Franklin Township faces major issues, from overdevelopment and road safety to taxes and transparency, and voters deserve the opportunity to hear directly from the candidates before casting their ballots.

Unfortunately, this year, the Democrat incumbents declined to participate in a candidate forum with LEZNY, BRANT, GEORGES, and GUY hosted by the League of Women Voters, an organization long respected for providing fair, nonpartisan platforms for open discussion. They’ve participated in past years, but not this one, leaving residents without a vital chance to compare ideas and leadership styles

.

Our community deserves better. Franklin Township’s current council members have served for an average of over a decade each, and some for much longer. Change doesn’t come from silence; it comes from engagement. We encourage every voter, regardless of party, to learn about all the candidates before voting begins. Ask questions. Read their platforms. Watch who’s showing up for the community.

Voting starts soon — make your voice count, and make it an informed one.
