Rising School Budget & Taxes? What Our Candidates Propose.

ree

The Franklin Board of Education recently passed its FY 2026 budget with a tax levy increase.

We may not control the school budget—but that doesn’t mean we’re powerless.

Christopher LEZNY, Jan BRANT, Sophia GEORGES, and Benjamin GUY are committed to being strong advocates for transparency, accountability, and collaboration between township and school leadership.

Here’s what we’ll do:

1. Call for Joint Council-BOE Budget Transparency Meetings. We will propose quarterly joint public sessions where the Board of Education presents its financial plans to the Town Council and residents. Transparency builds trust—and encourages fiscal discipline.

2. Pressure the BOE to Prioritize Taxpayer Impact. As elected officials, we can publicly advocate for BOE restraint, question unnecessary spending, and rally residents to speak out. Community pressure matters.

3. Support Qualified, Fiscally Responsible BOE Candidates. While we don’t control the school board, we can use our platform to inform voters about fiscally responsible candidates who will treat your tax dollars with respect. This doesn't mean that school elections will become political, it means that those candidates who propose fiscally responsible solutions will be highlighted.

4. Ensure New Developments Don’t Overwhelm Our Schools. Overdevelopment doesn’t just affect roads and traffic—it increases school enrollment without proportionate revenue. We will fight to stop warehouse and housing sprawl that overburdens our schools and raises your taxes.

5. Advocate for Fair State Aid. Franklin schools are still underfunded by the state. We will work with state-level leaders to demand fair education aid so that local homeowners aren't carrying the full burden.

We Hear You—and We’re Acting

We’re not here to make empty promises. We understand the pain of rising school taxes and the limits of council authority. But we will use every tool available to push for responsible spending, transparency, and relief for Franklin taxpayers.

Vote Lezny, Brant, Georges, and Guy. Let’s bring accountability to every part of local government—even the parts we don’t control.
