Who may vote by absentee ballot?
The following sections provide general information regarding procedures for registered voters unable to vote in person at the polls on Election Day and who qualify to vote by absentee ballot.
Persons who are registered voters in Will County are eligible to cast an absentee ballot only if they meet one of these conditions:

persons expecting to be absent from Will County on election day (this includes persons who commute outside of Will County to/from work).

college or university students temporarily residing away from their home precincts.

persons who will be serving as election judges outside their precinct or election officials employed by the County Clerk or a law enforcement agency.

persons physically incapacitated or hospitalized.
-
persons serving on jury duty on election day.
-
persons who are observing a religious holiday.
-
persons in jail as pre-trial detainees not serving jail sentences.
In addition, the following unregistered voters are eligible to vote by absentee ballot:
- members of the Uniformed Service or merchant marine on active duty, or eligible spouses or dependents.
- U.S. citizens temporarily residing outside the U.S.
- U.S. citizens overseas by virtue of employment or accompanying their spouses or dependents
- other U.S. citizens residing outside the U.S.

When may I vote by absentee ballot?
The first day Illinois Election law allows the County Clerk to mail an absentee application and ballot is 40 days before the election. The last day to mail an absentee ballot to a voter is the Thursday (5 days) prior to the election. Your voted absentee ballot must be returned to the Will County Clerk's Office no later than noon on election day.

How do I request an application and absentee ballot by mail?
If you registered to vote on the mail-in registration form, under the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), you MUST vote in person the first time.
If you do not live in Will County, please contact the County Clerk's office in the County in which you reside. If you are unsure about your registration, please call our Voter Registration Department at (815)740-4620.
There are two elections in 2006:
1) March 21st, 2006 General Primary Election

2) November 7th, 2006 General Election

Where can I vote absentee in-person?
In-person absentee voting is conducted at the Will County Clerk's Office and also in certain townships, city, and village offices throughout the county. You must live within the city, village, or township in order to vote there. The following offices conduct absentee voting in Will County:
